Special Collection – Denton Public Works

The Town currently provides a special collection service for yard waste, appliances, furniture, and other miscellaneous items.

The Town of Denton Public Works Department wants to remind all Town residents about the special collection program.

Residents must call the Town Office by noon on Tuesdays to schedule weekly pickup. Call (410) 479-2050 to make pick-up arrangements or leave a message after regular business hours.

This service is for Residential households - (No Commercial or Government pickups)

Items that WILL be picked up for free:

Brush/Tree limbs - Maximum of 4inches in diameter with all cut ends pointing to the curb.
**Brush piles may be no larger than 4' wide, 3' tall and 12' long.
**No Brush resulting from work done by a private contractor shall be picked up. No Bamboo.
Clean stumps up to 4 inches - remove excess dirt
Grass Clippings, Weeds or Ivy (Yard Waste) - must be bagged in standard size leaf bag , remove excess dirt. No mulch, dirt, or animal waste. No cornstalks, hay bales or loose hay/straw in bags. Total weight not to exceed 50 lbs.
Leaves Bagged (all year) - use standard size leaf bags - weight not to exceed 50 lbs. No trash in leaf bags
Loose leaves - vacuum service offered seasonally Oct.15th thru Dec.15th. also in April
Call the Town Office for specific dates. No trash, sticks, or limbs, leaves only!
Cardboard - flattened and bundled with no packaging materials inside.
***Public Works will not pick up any cardboard that contains packing materials or trash. Only clean, flattened and bundled cardboard will be collected
Newspapers - bundled
Paint cans - no wet paint, any paint in cans must be completely dried up and lids removed before collection.

There will be a $5.00 per item fee for special collection for the following items: (Pick up ticket must be purchased in advance.)

***For health reasons - all mattresses & box springs are required to be completely sealed in plastic. Standard size plastic bedding bags are now available for sale through the Finance Dept. and can also be purchased when buying your special collection pick-up tickets. Other furniture may be required to be wrapped and sealed in plastic, when needed.

Special Collection Pickup tickets must be purchased by noon on Tuesday at the Denton Town Office, 4N. Second St., Denton MD 21629 to be added to the schedule for weekly pickup. For additional information, please call 410-479-2050
